In June 2021, Truthout.org published my piece about anti-Asian sentiment that has always existed in the US. I wrote about how while Trump’s anti-Asian sentiment was quite overt, how it’s existed even under left-leaning administrations. As examples, I wrote about the Manhattan DA’s scapegoating of the Chinese-American Abacus Savings Bank in New York City in the wake of the 2007-2008 financial crisis, as well as the Obama administration’s scapegoating of the Korean-American State Department employee, Stephen Kim.
